[Critical-Mass] May 26 Ride Summary

Friday's Ride (May 26, 2006) was officially a success and incorporated several
Macomb Critical Mass 'firsts'.  We had about 24 riders and rode a route
that included the Square and parts of the Southeast and Southwest Macomb
Participation was down slightly from last month, but still a fantastic
turnout for a month when students are gone and many year-round residents
take vacations.

Factoid: As a percentage of population a ride of 25 people in Macomb
is equivalent to a ride of 4000 people in Chicago!

Macomb Critical Mass Firsts (somebody please correct me if I've
messed any of these up):

    1. Our first 'tag-along' pedaler and as such perhaps our youngest
        pedaling participant to date
    2. Our first ride with a trailer, a recumbant, and a tandem.
    3. Our first member of the Macomb City Council to ride - Ken Zahnle
    4. Our first attendance by local press (Macomb Eagle) 
    5. Our first ride photos to be added to the website - Both Kent Harris
        and I took photos during the ride.  They can be seen on the

This makes 5 for 5 of successful critical mass rides in Macomb.
Thank you all who came out to support and/or ride with us.  I hope to
see you all next month: June 30 2006 (last day of June).
