In response to several inquiries, the LaHarpe Memorial Ride will be held again this year, with a few changes. All riders are welcome, with both a short [10 mile] and a longer ride.

The ride is scheduled for this Saturday, August 9, 2008, starting at 8:00am, from the church parking lot at the east end of the downtown LaHarpe business district. There will be a registration table, with instructions and route information.

There will be a 10 mile ride and a "longer" ride. The route for the long ride is slightly modified from last year, but will be in the 50 to 60 mile range. Turns will be marked.

The long ride will not have sag service or "official" rest stops this year, but will be routed through Raritan and Blandinsville, so there will be access to convenience stores, at around 15 and 30 miles. The Johnson Brothers "special relief" facility [on Road 2150] will also be operational, with appropriate beverages, just 6.5 miles from the end of the ride.

Funds from registration go toward a scholarship fund for area students.

Last year saw over 85 participants.
