Mr. Kent Harris, the premier bicycling guide in Western Illinois, has planned a beautiful time trial for us this Sunday, with a special course .
[There will be a 10 mile time trial Sunday, September 28, 2008, 7:30am, Colchester, Illinois.]
VERY INFORMAL.
ALL WELCOME.
Self timed, so bring a watch or your bike computer, as you will keep your own time.
Meet at the school at the south edge of Colchester at 7:30am. We will ride out to the course at around 7:45am.
Required equipment: any kind of bicycle, a helmet, and a timing device.
Course: Out and back, 10 miles total.
Kent advises that this time trial course is special in that :
1. virgin roadway [whatever that means]
2. no auto traffic
3. guaranteed tailwind on the return leg
4. no steep hills
5. little competition, as this is the same day as the World Championships in Italy.
Directions to Colchester school: Route 136, from east or west, to the gas station in the middle of town [not the Casey's]. Turn south, go through town, and continue south of the railroad tracks about 5 or 6 blocks. School on the right hand [west] side of street.
After the TT we will probably do an easy ride, 15 to 30 miles.
P.S.
Newt, please tell Mike, Tom, and any others who might be interested
Lyman, if you come we will have a fixed gear class. Also, could you please forward this to Randy W. in Mt. Pleasant, as I do not have his e-mail
Judge G., please invite Bill P, as well as any of the Carthage riders
Sheriff J., we will try to get you started early, to allow you to make your other obligations. Also, do you have a way to notify Mark ?, who rode at Plymouth. I do not have a last name or address for him. I think he lives near Ft. Madison
Steve H., you are welcome to bring Robbie Ventura, as well as Reid, etc
Ryan and Christie, please invite Evan
