AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY'S WALK & ROLL, NORTHSHORE ON MAY 17TH
Hello!
Please gather some of your bike club members to saddle up in the fight against cancer, and plan now to join others in the American Cancer Society's 2009 Walk & Roll North Shore, being held this year on Sunday, May 17 in Harms Woods preserve in Skokie.
Your support can take many forms. Peddle through the North Shore on a 30 or 50 mile scenic bike course, starting as early as 7:30 AM. Or, bring the family and friends to take advantage of the 10 mile ride or 5 mile walking route, which start at 9 AM. Your family or team can even mix and match events - some people ride and some people walk.
There's no minimum donation amount, but each participant needs to collect or donate at least $50 to receive a t-shirt. Of course, everyone is encouraged to raise as much money as possible to fund the fight against cancer.
If you have a lot of passion and energy and want to do more, consider being a Team Captain. Teams are any group of four or more people willing to ride and stride for the cause. Team members can choose to ride any of the distances or walk, as they wish. As a Team Captain, you can register your team and set up a customized personal participant center that allows you to easily recruit teammates and supporters, track your progress, and get fundraising tips as well as maintain contact with your team. It makes the recruiting and fundraising process very simple and provides a secure website for donations. You and each of your teammates also can customize personal pages. Bookmark the page and visit often!
If you can participate on May 17th and are ready to get started now, please go to http://community.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=18871&pg=entry (by copying the address) for more information, a pledge form, or to register online. You can also easily set up your own web page to send emails and collect donations.
Given that the weather was snappy for Walk & Roll in 2007 and so-so in 2008, this should be the year for sunny and pleasant! Most of all, we hope you?ll come out and support the cause. Thanks.
